    In accordance with Notification No. ECB/NOTIF-01/2011/1814 dated April 6, 2011 of the Election Commission of Bhutan, all members and staff of the National Council are hereby notified to refrain from making trips or tours to your respective constituencies during the election period except to cast vote on the Poll Day, i.e., on May 24, 2011 should you not wish to use the Postal Ballot facility. The election schedule and schedule for processing postal ballots as eligible are as given hereunder:

    07/04/2011 Candidates to initiate process for clearances required for filing Nomination (No Single-Window Service for issue of Clearances)
    15/04/2011 - Commencement of the selection procedure (Zomdu) for Gup and Mangmi – Commencement of the signature process by eligible persons for post of Thromde Thuemi, Gewog or Thromde Tshogpa
    24/04/2011 Freezing of Electoral Roll (Section 125 of the Election Act 2008 authorizes temporary embargo on entries in the Electoral Roll for a period of thirty days before the date of poll)
    25/04/2011 Last date for filing of Nominations of Candidates for Gup, Mangmi, Gewog Tshogpa, Thromde Thuemi and Thromde Tshogpa
    26/04/2011 Scrutiny of Nominations of Candidates & Commencement of the Election Campaign

    28/04/2011 Returning Officer to commence sending Postal Ballot to registered Postal Voters
    29/04/2011 Last date of receipt of Application for Postal Ballots by Returning Officer
    23/05/2011 (5:00 PM) Last day/time for receiving Postal Ballots
    24/05/2011 Poll Day and Counting of Results
    A person who applied for Postal Ballot shall not be allowed to vote in person as his/her name will be included in the Postal Voter’s List and struck off from the Voters’ List sent to the Polling Station by the Returning Officer.
