NOTIFICATION
In accordance with the National Assembly’s notification numbered NAB-NAS-6/2010/1569 dated 13/08/10, the 6th session of Parliament will commence from 19th November 2010 corresponding to the 13th Day of the 10th Month of the Iron Male Tiger Year. Likewise, the 6th session of the National Council will also commence on the above mentioned date. In this regard, any issue for inclusion in the agenda for the session may be kindly submitted to the National Council Secretariat as early as possible.

ANNOUNCEMENT
In slight deferment to Announcement No. NC/SG-03/2009-2010/2089 dated September 30, 2009, it is to inform all Hon’ble Members that the date for discussion on the rules and procedure for the election of the Deputy Chairperson of the National Council has been preponed to October 30, 2009 since November 2, 2009 is a public holiday. However, the dates for filing nomination and election remain the same, i.e. November 3 & 4, 2009, respectively. The Hon’ble Members are requested to kindly take note of the change and be present in the Conference Hall of the National Council on the given dates, positively.

ANNOUNCEMENT In continuation to letter No. NC/PER-01/2009/2088 dated September 25, 2009 of the Hon’ble Chairperson, it is to inform all Hon’ble Members of the National Council that the election of the Deputy Chairperson shall be held on November 4, 2009 coinciding with the auspicious 17th Day of the 9th Month of the Female Earth Ox Year. A schedule of events preceding the election is given as hereunder: November 2, 2009: Meeting of the Hon’ble Members to brief on the rules and procedures for election of the Deputy Chairperson. November 3, 2009: Nomination of candidates for the post of Deputy Chairperson to be filled up in the prescribed format before noon. A short presentation to be made by each of the nominated candidates in the afternoon. November 4, 2009: Election of Deputy Chairperson through secret ballot using electronic voting machine followed by declaration of results and Oath of Secrecy. Therefore, all are requested to kindly be present in the Conference Hall of the National Council on the afore-mentioned dates without fail.

This is to notify all Hon’ble Members of the National Council that the 4th Session of Parliament is scheduled to begin from November 20, 2009 for a period of about three weeks. Therefore, you are requested to kindly submit agenda items to the Secretariat on or before November 4, 2009 for finalization during the upcoming workshop to be held on November 5 & 6, 2009. Venue of the workshop shall be intimated as soon as it is confirmed.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
After inauguration of the joint session of Parliament, the 3rd session of National Council of Bhutan will begin on 1st July 2009. Therefore, all those interested to observe the debate in the National Council can get their entry pass from the Royal Bhutan Police at Gyalyong Tshokhang, Langjophakha, Thimphu. Due to limited space, sit allotment will be done on “first come first serve” basis.

In its second session, the National Council of Bhutan has resolved to review the Anti-Corruption Act 2006 in order to strengthen Anti-Corruption legislation. Accordingly, the Good Governance Committee of the National Council has initiated discussion with the Anti-Corruption Commission. The Committee would like to work towards a public consultation as part of the review exercise before introducing it for debate in the National Council. Hence, the National Council would like to invite comments, observations, feedback and suggestions on various provisions of Anti-Corruption Act 2006 from the general public. We hope that this exercise would lead to more interactive consultations later. We would appreciate receiving your contributions in the review process by 20th June 2009.
