46th Plenary Session

Posted on :11 April 2017

The National Council convened its 46th plenary for last two-days from 10th-11th April 2017 at its Plenary Hall. The meeting was conducted to update on the work progress of the committees, screen constituency issues and resolve other issues pending before the house. While the draft agenda has been ready since the last session, the plenary after much deliberation also approved the final agenda for the upcoming session. To that effect, a press Conference is scheduled for 19th of April 2017 to announce the finalized agenda for the 19th session of National Council.

The Chairperson of the relevant committees presented the findings and possible recommendations on the issues that has been assigned by the house in the last session. The committees reported that they are rigorously working on the assigned issues and is in the process of meeting with the relevant stakeholders to get broader perspective on the issue. The committees have been asked to wind up the stakeholder consultation and submit the final reports in the next plenary.

The meeting also carried out a screening process for the constituency related issues. The issues are screened at the Gewogs and Dzongkhags level by the members before it is submitted to the plenary. Accordingly, the plenary identified the issues that merit further discussion in the house. The plenary also instructed the concerned committee and members to do more work on some issues that require more information and analysis before the house can take up. The constituency issue that does not merit taking up in the house will be directly forwarded to the relevant agencies as per the practice.
