Committees: Work in Progress

After the 53rd Plenary conducted last week, the committees of the National Council have been conducting series of consultative meeting with various ministries and agencies.

Today the Economic Affairs Committee convened its meeting with Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) to discuss on the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Bill 2017. A comprehensive discussion took place on the Bill with a presentation by the officials from the RMA.

On 31st July, 2017, the members of Good Governance Committee met with Druk Holding & Investments and with the Ministry of Information and Communications on 1st August 2017. The meeting was basically to sought view points from the concerned stakeholders and to clarify issues on the Bhutan Information, Communication and Media Bill.

The Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Bill 2017 and the Bhutan Information, Communication and Media Bill 2017 was passed and forwarded to the National Council during the 9th Session of the National Assembly of Bhutan.

The National Council will deliberate on the two bills during the upcoming session
