Economic Affairs Committee on Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Bill 2017 with Royal Monetary Authority (RMA)

The members of the EAC met with the Governor and officials of the Royal Monetary Authority yesterday afternoon. The meeting was basically to seek clarification related to the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Bill 2017.

Amongst others, in-depth discussion took place on the Bill pertaining to the need of having proper hierarchy, functioning of the Financial Intelligence Department (FID) and National Coordination Committee (NCC), legal intent for granting autonomous to FID and the need to have a clear linkage between the NCC and Domestic Designation Committee (DDC).

This is the second meeting the Committee had conducted with the RMA on the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Bill 2017.
