20th Session Concludes

The closing ceremony of the 20th session of the National Council was graced by the Hon. Prime Minister, Hon. Speaker and Gyalpoi Zimpoen. 
Welcoming the special presence of the Gyalpoi Zimpoen, Hon. Prime Minister and Hon. Speaker to the last session of the National Council, the Hon. Chairperson of the National Council gave special leave to Hon. Tshering Dorji, the Deputy Chairperson to speak. On behalf of the house, he expressed vote of thanks to the Hon. Chairperson for providing guidance and leadership in continuing to build on the institution of the National Council since its establishment in 2008. He also expressed his gratitude to the members for the cooperation and teamwork rendered over the years. 

Hon. Chairperson in his clsoing address recalled the three valuable points commanded by His Majesty the King at the beginning of the tenure-that the last National Council delivered beyond its expectation and it must always live up to the trust and expectation of the people, that the National Council is not opposition and;  that it must provide effective check and balance in our democratic set up. He commended the commitment and dedication with which members worked in the service of the King, Country and people while always being mindful of the three invaluable command of His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo. On behalf of the house, he expressed his gratitude to His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo for always being the "Point of reference" while discharging our roles and responsibilities and prayed for the well being of His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo, His Royal Highness the Gyalsey and the Royal Family. He also thanked the Zhung Dratshang presided over by His Holiness the Chabjey Rinpoche and other religious institutions presided over by Venerable Lams, Trulku and religious heads for their blessing and prayers for the wellbeing of the People and Country.

Lastly, the Hon'ble Chairperson thanked the employees of the Department of National Properties, security personnel, media, medical doctors and officials of the National Council Secretariat who were instrumental in conducting the sessions over last five years. 

The session concluded with the offering of Zhabten (Long Life Prayer) to His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen and His Royal Highness the Gyalsey followed by Trashi Moenlam (auspicious prayers) for the well being of the King, Country and People.
