One Day Advocacy Session on the Role of the National Council (NC)

A day long advocacy session on the Role of the National Council of Bhutan was conducted today at Phuentsholing Middle Secondary School. A total of about 170 teachers from six schools under Phuentsholing Thromde attended the session. The advocacy session was aimed to enhance the knowledge of the teachers on the Role of the National Council of Bhutan.

Honorable Nima from Bumthang presented on the Roles of the Parliament where he spoke about the composition, the roles & functions of the parliament, and differences between the two houses.

Honorable Pema Tenzin from Chhukha presented on the National Council as a House of review. He highlighted on the formation & functions of the committees, and issues that are discussed in these committees through series of consultations.

Mr. Tendel Gyeltshen, legislative Officer of the National Council of Bhutan outlined on the legislative process.

The day concluded with question and answer session.
