Courtesy Call on to the Chairperson

On the courteous invitation of His Excellency Lynpo Dasho (Dr.) Sonam Kinga, Chairperson of the National Council, a seven-member delegation led by His Excellency Prof. Woothisarn Tanchai, Secretary General from KPI arrived earlier this morning.

Later in the afternoon, the delegation paid a courtesy call on to the Chairperson in the Raven Lounge.  

Cordially welcoming the delegation, the Chairperson extended his sincere appreciation for considering the invitation for the visit. Recalling numerous visits exchanged between the two countries at different level, he stated that this visit has create an avenue to enhance the relationship at the institutional level and contribute towards enhancing the Bhutan-Thailand Parliamentarians Friendship Group.

The Secretary General expressed his heartfelt gratitude for inviting the delegation which was due for the past two years.  He conveyed that the institutions can collaborate and create opportunities for further engagements to support each other.

The meeting also discussed on the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the institutions, the delegation will conduct an interactive session with the Secretary Generals and Directors of national Council and National Assembly on 9th April 2018.

KPI is an academic institute aiming to promote democracy and highly regarded both in the field and nationally for its significant experience in conducting national surveys and political research with the team of a high academic caliber. The institute research results are used by numerous policy makers, particularly parliamentarians, government organizations and the media due to its use of academically   sound and rigorous methodologies.

The delegation is on a five days visit and will be leaving on 13th of April, 2018.
