Plenary meeting

12 June 2018: The House convened its second plenary meeting to discuss on the disputed clauses of the Audit Bill of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2017. The meeting was presided over by the Deputy Chairperson of the National Council.

The Chairperson of the Legislative Committee presented the background of the Audit Bill and the amendment clauses proposed by both the Houses (National Council and National Assembly). He informed the House that the Bill was introduced during 19th Session from the National Council upon request by the Royal Audit Authority.

The two Houses could not come into consensus on the Bill. A Joint Committee was instituted consisting of members from both the Houses to review and to present the disputed Bill in the upcoming Joint Sitting. Hon'ble Members to the Legislative Committee of the National Council was appointed as members to this Joint Committee.

Reporting on the deliberation that took place during the Joint Committee meetings, the LC sought further comments and recommendations from the House.
