The Parliament passed Audit Bill of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2017

Of the 69 Members present and voting, the Audit Bill of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2017 was passed with 62 Yes votes, 2 No votes and 5 Abstain votes.

Hon’ble Karma Tshering, Eminent Member of National Council & Chairperson of the Joint Committee presented 17 disputed clauses of the Bill on behalf of the Joint Committee. He reported that the committee convened on 11 June 2018 and 13 June 2018 to deliberate on the disputed clauses.

The Audit Bill of Bhutan 2017 was introduced as a Private Members Bill in the National Council during the 19th session and deliberated on the amendments made by the National Assembly in the 20th session.

Similarly, the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee, Member from Wamrong Constituency presented the review report on the Annual Audit Report to the Joint Sitting of the Parliament.

The Report was presented in two parts, Part One on the Review of Financial Audit Report which included Review Report of the Annual Audit Report 2016, Review Report of Annual Audit Report 2015, Follow up Report on 8th Session Resolutions (Annual Audit Report 2009-2014) and Public Accounts. Part Two of the report on Performance Audit Report included two Performance Audit Report and Follow up report on 8th, 9th and 10th Resolutions.

The Chairperson also submitted seven recommendations of the Public Accounts Committee to the House.

The Joint Sitting of the Parliament will continue the deliberation on Review of the Performance Audit Report and the Recommendations submitted by the Public Accounts Committee tomorrow.
