The Joint Sitting of the Parliament continues deliberation on the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Report

The two-day deliberations on the Public Accounts Committee Report concluded today. The Joint Sitting of the Parliament passed recommendations proposed by the Committee with the majority vote.

The Chairperson submitted a revised recommendation for "the PAC to conduct as many public hearings possible to resolve the pending audit irregularities as for AAR 201-16. In addition, the agencies should resolve the pending audit irregularities as per the resolutions of the 6th and 8th session of the Second Parliament within 30th September 2018.” The House agreed to extend the duration of resolving the irregularities to one year from today.

The Joint Sitting of the Parliament also deliberated on the recommendations of the PAC on the Performance Audit on Delivery of Out-Patient Department services at JDWNRH and the Performance Audit on Provision of Drinking Water in Thimphu Municipality. 

Furthermore, the House unanimously endorsed the seven recommendations submitted by the Public Accounts Committee, and also agreed to incorporate two more recommendations on the review of the Performance Audit on Provision of Drinking Water in Thimphu Municipality.

The House also discussed and endorsed the follow up report on the implementation status of the 8th , 9th and 10th Session resolutions of the Second Parliament and thus concluded.

Tomorrow the National Council will resume with  the   Presentation and deliberation of Annual Anti-Corruption Report 2017.
