NC Deliberates on Annual Anti-Corruption Commission Report 2017

The Hon’ble Members of the Good Governance Committee (GGC) presented the Annual Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Report 2017 to the House. The report highlighted on the ACC’s policy priorities, ACC’s performance, Bhutan’s international status in Transparency International-Corruption Perception Index (TI-CPI) rankings, implementation status of NC’s resolutions and the Committee’s recommendations. The House deliberated at length on these subjects.

The Committee specifically highlighted on its two recommendations of ensuring financial security for the Commission, and establishing targeted interventions to address allegations against local governments and abuse of functions. While supporting these recommendations, individual members provided their suggestions and opinions to further improve them. 

The Chairperson instructed the Committee to incorporate the additional recommendations as proposed by the concerned members if and where appropriate.

Tomorrow, the Hon’ble Minister of Finance will move motion to introduce Agreement between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes of Income. The house will also deliberate on the follow-up reports on G2C Services and Local Government Members’ Leave Entitlement.

There will also be question hour session with the Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and Forests in the afternoon.
