21st Session of the National Council concludes

The National Council concluded its 21st Session with a closing speech by the Hon’ble Chairperson followed by a Tashi Moenlam. The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Speaker, Guenzhu Neten and monks from the Zhung Dratsang were also present in the ceremony.

In his closing address, the Hon’ble Chairperson expressed his appreciation to the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble Speaker for their unwavering support by attending every opening and closing ceremony of the House. He also briefly provided the resolutions passed by the House on the issues deliberated during the Session.  

Referring to the speech of His Majesty the King in the recent convocation of the Royal University of Bhutan, the Hon’ble Chairperson highlighted the importance of grasping opportunities with perseverance. He also emphasized on the essence of hard work, dedication and commitment towards work.

He also reported on the Agenda for the 22nd Session of the National Council which will deliberate on three legislative issues such as Amendment of Minerals and Mines Management Act 1995, Impeachment Bill and Capital Budget.

Concluding his speech, Hon’ble Chairperson expressed his gratitude to His Majesty The Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo, His Royal Highness The Gyalsey, Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen and The Royal Family. He also thanked His Holiness The Je Khenpo and other Venerable Lams and Trulku for their blessing and prayers for the wellbeing of the People and Country.

Lastly, the Hon'ble Chairperson thanked the officials of the National Council Secretariat, Department of National Properties, security personnel and media for supporting the House.

The session concluded with an offering of the Tashi Moenlam.
