Courtesy Call on to the Hon’ble President, National Legislative Assembly, Parliament of Thailand and Hon’ble Secretary General, King Prajadhipok’s Institute (KPI), Thailand.

Courtesy Call on to the Hon’ble President, National Legislative Assembly, Parliament of Thailand and Hon’ble Secretary General, King Prajadhipok’s Institute (KPI), Thailand.

The Hon’ble Chairperson paid a courtesy call on to Hon’ble Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of the National Legislative Assembly, Parliament of Thailand at the Reception Room, 2nd Floor, Parliament Building 2.

The Hon’ble President warmly welcomed the Chairperson and the delegation and talked on the important bi-lateral relationship shared between Thailand and Bhutan since 1989 when formal diplomatic relations were established between the two countries.

Exchanges were made on important relations shared between the two countries in terms of trade, economic, tourism, education, agriculture and parliamentary diplomacy. They also discussed ways to further strengthen such cooperation. He thanked Hon’ble Chairperson for the visit.

From the Thailand side, the Vice-President and Secretary General of the National Legislative Assembly, Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Members of Bhutan-Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group attended the call on.

A luncheon was hosted by the Vice-President on the occasion of Chairperson’s visit to the Parliament of Thailand.

In the afternoon, the Hon’ble Chairperson made a visit to King Prajadhipok’s Museum and paid a courtesy call on to Prof. Woothisarn Tanchai, Secretary General of KPI. A tour of King Prajadhipok’s Museum was arranged for the Bhutanese delegation. Thereafter, the Secretary General and staff presented an overview and background, roles and duties and strategies of the KPI in the meeting room of the Museum.

The meeting also discussed on sharing experiences and areas of co-operation and collaboration between the KPI and the Parliament of Bhutan as part of building institution linkages between the two. A dinner was also hosted for the Hon’ble Chairperson and the delegation from Bhutan by the KPI.
