NC Continue to deliberate on follow-up on the resolutions of 16th Session

2nd sitting of the 17th session of the National Council began with acknowledging the Coronation day of His Majesty Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck. This day is celebrated as Social Forestry Day where students and citizens plant trees all across the country dedicating them to the long life of the His Majesty the Fourth Durk Gyalpo. The House continued with the follow-up report on the implementation of hydropower development policies and programs. The Chairperson of the Ad-hoc Committee, Hon’ble Sangay Khandu (Gasa) reported the responses received from Ministry of Economic Affairs on hydropower development policies and programs. Similarly, the Chairperson of the Good Governance Committee Hon’ble Tashi Wangmo reported on the responses received from the Ministry of Home & Cultural Affairs. On this, the members submitted their views and suggestions on the responses received from the Government and to streamline the resolutions follow-up procedure. Accordingly, the House directed the relevant committees and secretariat to prepare a checklist on the government assurance through responses, dissatisfaction of the responses and on non-responses. The system to follow-up on the resolutions is instituted to ensure that the resolutions passed by the National Council are given serious consideration by the Government. Tomorrow, the House will continue with the deliberation on the follow-up report of the 16th session, followed by question & answer session with the Minister for Home and Culture Affairs.
