Consultative meeting on Teacher quality issue

The Special Committee of the National Council met with a team of six officials from the Ministry of Education to discuss on the Teacher quality issues. The meeting was chaired by Eminent Member Phuntsho Rapten, Chairperson to the Special Committee.

The presentation from the Ministry outlined general information on the human resources policy such as the teacher recruitment, retention, deployment, career ladder, teaching allowances, teacher's moral & image, school governance and leadership, professional development, challenges & way forward.

Following the presentation the members raised their concerns and sought clarification on various issues pertaining to the presentation.

The consultative meeting was organized by the Committee as a part of the review of the quality of education in the country. The Committee is scheduled to meet with the Department of Youth and Sports next.
