NC's Special Committee on Education meets official from the Royal Education Council

29th July 2016: The National Council's Special Committee on Education met with officials from the Royal Education Council (REC) at Paro.

The Committee was formed during the 17th Session of The National Council to review education policy. The review work is currently looking into the quality of education with special focus on teachers quality,  curriculum issues,  and school resources and infrastructure among others.

Reporting on the mandate and the work carried out by REC, the Director highlighted the details of how the curriculum is developed and reviewed. She also reported that professional development of teacher is another area looked after by REC and currently most of the staff is engaged in transformative pedagogy training  for teacher. The Committee later met with the faculty of Education College in Paro and visited Khangkhu Middle  Secondary School the next day.

The Committee will meet with other stakeholders to  gather information and views on the quality of education.  The findings will be submitted and deliberated  in the 18th Session.
