Natural Resources & Environment Committee’s consultative meeting with Ministry of Agriculture and Forests.

Today as per the request of Natural Resources and Environment Committee (NREC), the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF) has made presentation to the National Council on the followings topics: measures taken to address the drying up of water source, especially due to tunneling activities for hydropower project, legalization of Paris Polyphylla, possibility of extending Cordyceps harvesting period, measures taken to address human wildlife conflict, status of upland rice cultivation owing to the lack of Irrigation facilities, market accessibility for agriculture and livestock products and the measures taken to address animal welfare and stray dogs. The presentation covered the present status, constraint and way forward for the 12th five year plan.
After the presentation, there was an interactive discussion between 29 Officials from the MoAF led by the Hon’ble Secretary and the National Council Members. The meeting successfully concluded with the understanding that the Ministry and the Committee will work closely to address any policy and legislative issues related to the Renewable Natural Resources Sector.
