Joint parliamentary at #IPU 140th Assembly

A ten-member joint parliamentary delegation led by Hon’ble Speaker from the National Assembly is currently attending the on-going 140th IPU Assembly scheduled from 6 - 10 April, 2019 in Doha, Qatar.

Over 1600 parliamentarians, UN partners and experts from around the world has assembled in Doha, Qatar, for the 140th IPU Assembly. Under the overarching theme of education for peace, the Assembly will also consider ways in which parliaments can boost gender equality – particularly in the region, take measures to counter terrorism, promote human rights and invest in renewable energy.

The IPU is the global organization of parliaments. 
As of today it comprises of 178 national member parliaments and 12 regional parliamentary bodies. The IPU is convened twice every year where over 1,500 parliamentary delegates and partners from all across the world assembles, bringing a parliamentary dimension to global governance including the work of the UN and the implementation of the 2030 global goals.

The 141st IPU Assembly will take place in Belgrade, Serbia, from 13-17 October 2019.
