With the objective to enhance and strengthen the understanding of the role played by the National Council in the legislative process and review function, a team led by Hon. Chairperson is currently carrying out a five-day advocacy programme.
The programme started today at Paro College of Educationa and Norbuling Rigter College at Paro.
The morning session commenced in PCE with a marchang ceremony followed by a welcome address by the President of the PCE.
Briefly introducing the composition of the Parliament, the Chairperson talked about the apolitical nature of the institution; review work process in the National Council; and legislative roles and procedure of the Parliament.
Questions and recommendations were raised on various issues such as TVET, National contract teachers; teachers enrollment after graduation and unemployment issues amongst others.
In the afternoon, the Hon'ble Chairperson made a similar presentation to the students and faculty of Norbuling Rigter College.
Over 300 trainees from the PCE and 159 students from the NRC attended the advocacy programme.
Tomorrow, the Hon’ble Chairperson will visit the College of Natural Resources.
