12th Plenary held

Presided over by the Hon’ble Chairperson, the members convened for its 12th plenary meeting yesterday.

The highlights of the discussion in the plenary included progress report by the Committees; nominating members for the Parliamentary Friendship Group for Bangladesh, India and Thailand; and procedures for discussion on Pay Commission Report amongst others.

The respective Chairperson of the Committees made a presentation on the progress report of the Committees as follows:

1. The Air Services Agreement between Bhutan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by Foreign Relations Committee;

2. Review Report on TVET by Special Committee;

3. Draft Bill on the Ministers and Minister Equivalent Post Holders’s Entitlements by Legislative Committee;

4. Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and Draft Impeachment Bill by the Natural Resources and Environment Committee;

5. Review Report on Harmful use of Alcohol in the Country, the rules of procedure for appointment of the constitutional post holders and Annual Anti-corruption Commission Report by the Good Governance Committee; and

6. The review report on Lhengye Zhungtsho Act 1999 by Social Cultural Affairs Committee.

The Chairperson of the Committee reported that the review reports are the outcome of the various consultative meetings and field visit conducted with relevant stakeholders. The reports highlighted on key observation and findings,recommendations and way forward by the committees.

The final reports will be submitted and deliberated in the 23rd session of the National Council of Bhutan.
