Press Conference on the Agenda of 23rd Session

Presided over by the Hon’ble Jigme Wangchuk, Deputy Chairperson of the National Council a press conference was conducted on the agenda of the 23rd Session this afternoon.

The Deputy Chairperson informed the reporters that the 23rd Session of the National Council is scheduled to be held from 23 May- June 26, 2019. 
He said that the session will commence with an opening ceremony followed by follow–up reports on the resolutions of the 22nd session of the National Council.

The 23rd session will deliberate on 5 legislative and 3 policy issues; Fourth Pay Commission report and the Annual Anti-Corruption Commission Report 2018.

The House will also conduct 6 question hour sessions with the Prime Minister and relevant ministers during this session.

In preparation for the 23rd session, the Committees of the National Council have been constantly conducting stakeholder meetings and carried out various field visits with relevant agencies, ministries and private entities.

In the joint sittings, the Parliament will deliberate on the Performance Audit Report by the Public Accounts Committee; witness the presentation of the Annual Report on the State of the Nation including legislative plans and annual plans and priorities of the Government by the Prime Minister of Bhutan.
