Posted on :22 May 2019

During the Briefing Session for the 23rd Session of the National Council held on 21st May, 2019, the House decided to form an Ad-hoc Committee to review the Fourth Pay Commission Report.

The First and Second Pay Commission's Recommendations were submitted to the Parliament by the government in the form of Pay Revision Report and endorsed by the Parliament as a Report. However, the Third Pay Commission’s Recommendations were submitted in the form of Pay Revision Report but was deliberated as a Money Bill.

Recently, the current Pay Commission recommended that it should be tabled in the Parliament as a Pay Revision Report rather than a Money Bill. Therefore, the House directed the Committee to study the process of deliberating the Pay Revision Report and also to review the contents of the report.

In doing so, five members were appointed to carry out the review task. Hon’ble Members appointed to the Committee were:

1. Hon’ble Nima
2. Hon’ble Ugyen Namgay
3. Hon’ble Karma Tshering
4. Hon’ble Tashi Wangmo
5. Hon’ble Choining Dorji

The Committee held its first meeting in the afternoon to elect its Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson. Hon’ble Nima has been elected as the Chairperson and Hon’ble Ugyen Namgay as the Dy. Chairperson. The Committee also appointed Mr. Tashi Dargay and Mrs. Dechen as Committee Secretaries.
