Updates on COVID -19 Situation to the Parliament

On 30 July 2020, the Health Minister and Covid-19 Task Force team updated the Members of the Parliament and staff of the two secretariats on ”Response and Readiness Update for COVID-19 in Bhutan". She said, that a community transmission was inevitable and that it was only a matter of time before it actually happened.
A presentation was made by Dr. Tshokey, Microbiologist with JDWNRH highlighting the current status and significant interventions put in place considering all scenarios including the worst case scenario of a community transmission. 
After the presentation, the Prime Minister briefly reminded everyone that COVID -19 was no longer just a health issue, but a national issue that has impacted all sectors of the country. His Excellency also reminded everyone that the benevolent leadership of  
His Majesty the King has helped the country in combating the disease so far. His Excellency also requested the gathering to act as ambassadors to advocate the general public on the importance of maintaining health hygiene and social distancing. 
The briefing session concluded with a short question and answer session.
