Mines and Minerals Bill of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2020

The Legislative Committee of the National Council  of Bhutan (NCB) consulted the Economic Finance Committee of Bhutan of the National Assembly(NAB) on the Mines and Minerals of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2020 today in the National Council Conference hall. The meeting was conducted to mainly discuss the principles and objectives of the amendments made by the NAB on the Bill.


Explaining the objective, the members from NAB explained that the EFC has conducted in-depth review and consultation with relevant and affected stakeholders before passing the Bill. Further stating that they have as much as possible amended the sections as to resolve the existing issues and bring uniformity in the previous Act.


The LC was assigned to review the Bill to prepare for the 26th session. In the process of reviewing the Bill, the Committee have consulted agencies, ministries and affected stakeholders.The Committee has also visited various mines and minerals sites in the country as a part of its review process. 


The NAB passed the Mines and Minerals Bill of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2020 in the Third Session of the Third Parliament on 30 January 2020.
