The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) presented Bhutan’s Foreign Policy and its implementation to the Members of the National Council.
The Ministry has started to outreach its programmes with objectives to familiarize stakeholders and agencies on Bhutan’s Foreign Policy, share MFA’s role and functions, to strengthen collaboration and coordination.
Hon. Members were briefed on the overview of Bhutan’s Foreign Policy, Conduct of Foreign Relations, Protocol and Consular Services, Challenges, and Way forward. The House later pursued extensive discussion on issues pertaining to foreign relations, bilateral treaties and agreements procedures etc…
The National Council is the MFA’s first engagement for their initiative to conduct presentations to all relevant agencies.
Led by the Secretary, seventeen officials from the MFA accompanied to facilitate the meeting. Besides Hon. Members, the officials from the Secretariat also attended. Hon. Member Tashi Samdrup, Chairperson of the Foreign Relations Committee presided over the meeting.
