Good Governance Committee (GGC) of the National Council met with the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) to discuss on the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021. Four officials from the Office attended the consultation meeting.
The Meeting particularly discussed on the provisions amended by the National Assembly and sought views and opinions of the Office. The Meeting also discussed on the issues concerning constitutionality of prosecution by the Anti-Corruption Commission, check and balance mechanism for the OAG as a prosecuting agency, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ACC and OAG, seizure and confiscation of properties during pendency of the trial, security and safety of officials involved in investigation and prosecution, and compensation and damages on acquittal.
The Meeting ended with note of thanks from the Committee for sharing views and opinions on the Amendment Bill.
