Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO) and Hotel and Restaurant Association of Bhutan (HRAB) made a presentation to the Economic Affairs Committee of the National Council on how the tourism sector is being affected by the pandemic.
Tourism sector being one of the most adversely affected sectors, they felt the need to seek support through fiscal and structural adjustments to revive the sector once tourism re-opens in the country.
Their submission is to waive off Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) once Tourism re-opens in the country to achieve the 2019 tourist arrival target and to introduce one-time visa tariff to incentivize the tourists in increasing their length of stay to generate more benefit to the country’s economy through such introductions in the Sector.
