NC finalizes the agenda of the 28th Session

In the plenary meeting held today, the Standing Committees' Chairpersons briefed the plenary on the findings and draft recommendations of their respective legislative and policy review assignments for the 28th Session.

 

Hon’ble Member Phuntsho Rapten, Chairperson of the Legislative Committee presented a review report on the Civil Liability Bill and redundant Acts.  

 

Hon’ble Member Surjaman Thapa, Chairperson of the Good Governance Committee highlighted the issues and findings of their review of the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021. 

 

Similarly, Hon’ble Member Lhaki Dolma, Chairperson of the Social and Cultural Affairs Committee reported on the review findings on Suicide and Mental Health Issues in Bhutan. 

 

Hon’ble Member Tirtha Man Rai, Chairperson of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee (NREC) updated the plenary status on the Review Report findings on State-Owned Enterprises. 

 

Hon’ble Member Ugyen Tshering, who is serving as the Chairperson of the Economic Affairs Committee (EAC) and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) reported on the status of two international conventions assigned for review to the EAC, the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Amendment and Preferential Trade Agreement between the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Royal Government of Bhutan.

 

He also reported the status of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). He said the PAC  will present the  Review Report on the Royal Audit Authority’s Annual Audit Report 2020; Performance Audit Report on in-country travels, Performance Audit Report on implementation and management of National Broadband Fiber Network, follow-up on the implementation status of the resolutions of the Public Account Committee in the Joint Session.

 

Dy. Chairperson Hon’ble Member Jigme Wangchuck also reminded the Hon'ble Members on the status  of Question Hour session questions.

 

The 28th Session of the National Council will commence on Friday, 26th November 2021 and conclude on Friday, 24th December 2021.
