Conclusion of the 28th Session of the National Council

The closing ceremony of the 28th session of the National Council began with the address by  His Excellency Tashi Dorji, Hon'ble Chairperson of the National Council followed by Zhabten and a Tashi Moenlam.

In his closing remarks, the Hon'ble Chairperson, on behalf of the Members and the Secretariat expressed his profound gratitude to His Majesty The Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo, the Members of the Royal Family, His Holiness the Je Khenpo, the Zhung Dratshang and other religious bodies for their continued prayers and blessings for the successful completion of the 28th Session. 

The Chairperson highlighted some of the legislative issues and policy reviews deliberated and passed during the Session. 

He also acknowledged that the successful conduct of the business of the House could be attributed to the sincerity and hard work of the Hon’ble Members of the respective Committees and the Secretariat.   

He informed that the House will deliberate on the Royal Bhutan Police (Amendment) Bill 2021, the Biodiversity Bill of Bhutan 2021 and the Framework Agreement on the establishment of the International Solar Alliance in the 29th Session. 

Further, he extended his appreciation to the Election Commission of Bhutan for the successful conduct of the Third Local Government (LG) Election and to all the candidates who participated in the election. He congratulated all the elected leaders of the Local Government and wished them success. 

The Chairperson concluded by offering New Year greetings and wishes to His Majesty The Druk Gyalpo,  His Majesty The Fourth King, Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, the Members of the Royal Family, The Je Khenpo and the monk body, the Prime Minister, the Ministers, the Members of Parliament and the general public alike.
