National Council Building
The National Council is situated next to Gyalyong Tshokhang at Langjophaka, approximately 2.5 kilometers from
the city center, between the Dechen Lam stretch and the Wangchu river.
It occupies the old Banquet Hall and the Convention Centre, which have been remodeled into a single
structure within the spacious lawns, gardens, and parking area of the former facility.
The main building houses the Session hall, Plenary hall, an executive lounge, a library, the office of the
Chairperson, the office of the Deputy Chairperson, offices for members, and offices for assistant research
officers.
The building's structural design and architecture showcase intrinsic Bhutanese arts and crafts. The interior
of the building is adorned with beautiful traditional paintings that hold rich spiritual significance. The
facilities seamlessly blend modern technologies with Bhutanese traditions.
A small canteen is attached to the building, offering food and soft drinks.
Five small office units are located outside the main building, serving as the offices of the Secretary
General, Secretariat Service Division, Legislative and Procedural Division, Research and Hansard Division,
and Information and Communications Division.
