EAC Consults BCTA and DoAT

In continuation of the ongoing stakeholder meetings on the review of the state of tourism in Bhutan, the Economic Affairs Committee held a consultation meeting with the Bhutan Construction and Transport Authority (BCTA) and the Department of Air Transport (DoAT) on December 27, 2024.

The BCTA emphasized its role in ensuring vehicle fitness, implementing stricter licensing processes, and managing tourist transport services. The BCTA also highlighted its efforts to combat corruption and maintain high standards through inspections and training.

The DoAT outlined its mandates, including airport development, air navigation, and emergency management. Key challenges included space congestion, staff shortages, and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to strengthen air transport services. Efforts are also being made to focus on regionally balanced infrastructure development and safety standards.
