EAC Consults with CSI Market

The Economic Affairs Committee convened a meeting with officials from the CSI Market. The meeting highlighted the critical role of the CSI Market in Bhutan’s economic development and its alignment with the sustainable tourism enhancement.

The discussions centered on overcoming challenges such as limited market access, low productivity, and inadequate financing, which have hindered the sector's growth despite its substantial contribution to employment and local industry.

Furthermore, the potential of e-commerce platforms, like Druksell, to expand international market access for Bhutanese products, as well as the need for streamlined certification processes to strengthen Brand Bhutan were deliberated.

The committee suggested standardizing expansion strategies, fostering linkages with tourism-related businesses, and ensuring uniform pricing for domestic and international consumers.

Collaborative efforts among government agencies and diversified funding options were also underscored as crucial for achieving sustainability and competitiveness in the CSI sector.
